Spending on GenAI doubled

A new report by Bain & Company reveals that average spending on generative AI among U.S. companies has more than doubled, rising from $5.1 million to $10.3 million in just ten months. Satisfaction with these tools is also notably high—80% of companies using generative AI report that it meets or exceeds their expectations. In a surprising shift, the legal sector, historically slower to adopt new technologies, is rapidly embracing change. By the end of 2024, 34% of legal organizations in the U.S. had integrated generative AI tools, marking a significant increase from the previous year.
What does this mean for in-house legal teams and law firms? Client expectations are evolving, in-house departments are pushing innovation internally, and external counsel are under growing pressure to keep pace with these developments.
But how does this global momentum affect Thailand and Southeast Asia? In many firms across the region, the reality looks quite different. There are limited IT budgets, no dedicated innovation departments, and little time for lengthy onboarding processes or expensive consulting engagements.
Still, that doesn’t mean these teams need to accept less. That’s exactly why we’re building Sonar Legal: an affordable, plug-and-play Word add-in designed specifically for the unique needs of legal teams in this region.
